Notes: Dr. Charles Throsby (1777-1828) came to Australia as Surgeon on the ship Coramandel in 1802. He became a noted Explorer and was one of the first settlers of the Southern HIghlands, having journeyed to the area in 1817 and1818. Governor Lachlan Macquarie rewarded him for his services with a land grant of 1000 acres on the southern bank of the Wingecarribee River adjacent to Bong Bong village.
